Let’s be real, the world's full of inspiring shit.. I guess you can find beauty in the chaos if you look in the perfect light. For us in the current whirlwind of emotions with the lockdown and lack of external inspiration/being caged in, it's a little harder to create. In saying this there are so many homies creating wild shit all around us! It’s safe to say that's where we are finding our current inspiration.
We are currently working on our “Enrichment Capsule” that's inspired by the community, our community. A community of individuals that all have a common interest in boosting the creatives around them. The goal is simple, it just takes time to execute. We touched on our vision for the brand briefly in the last blog entry, if you haven’t had a look we suggest you do. It’s probably not even a two minute read but well worth it if you’re curios on how to get involved.
For us the brand had a radical shift in 2020 where we essentially killed the founding “surf” label that was an adventure based brand and re-invented the business. We are now an arts/streetwear label and with that comes cool shit! Our 2021 Summer Samples are on their way, basketball shorts, graphic tees and other juicy accessories. I think for the inspiration of the shorts it came from brands like Essentials, Earls and the actual fact we got into the playoff series this year haha.
The colour way we are trialling is a Portland meets bucks vintage vibe, Cream base with the Portland crimson partnered with the bucks deep green. Realistically they aren’t based off those teams rather the Pantone swatches looking clean together..
We are always looking to evolve and grow in this space where threads meet community, If you have ideas on how you or others can grow in this space don’t hesitate to message us because your vision could lead to us creating something epic and working with you in partnership.
I guess whilst we are on the idea of evolving and adapting in the current climate there a few creatives that inspire us daily. Sunday Mail or @Mail.jpeg is probably one that jumps to mind with adapting to the climate. He has come out in the month of July and dropped a new cover everyday! The fan interaction from this is so strong with him taking the suggestions from his TikTok followers and running with it. I love watching people navigate the space and growing in their craft.
Creatives excite us man, with Liam serenading his audience and the homies holding it down in Newtown creating threads for all sorts of brands! (I low-key wish we hadn’t found our manufacturers so early on so that I could whip it with these two)
Angel and Meagan are switching it up, they have built a community and clientele base around allowing creatives to grow. You’ll find when starting to navigate the space of graphic tees and oversized hoods the minimum quantity (MOQ) on orders is always so daunting. You must have 100 units or so before even being considered by the manufacturer. These two switched it up and thought nah lets provide a service where the cost is affordable and any amount is possible! I try to send anyone and everyone their way as its not just their rates and fast turn around but the fact they built a business for creatives by creatives.
There are so many creatives around us doing fun shit, BoySoda about to drop another track (about time!!) and Josh Wheatley of Lovrs dropping absolute gems with his latest winter collection and the Hype-otential boys kicking down stereotypes and smashing weekly goals out of the park!
I think the final artist for this blog post would have to be @eramelbourne.. Its the age old battle of Council Worker Vs Dog haha! EraMelbourne is a mural and graphic artist creating quirky and random pieces that almost always revolve around the blue collared dog. For a while there it was council v dog and the battle cracked us up. Era would document the process of whipping up a tasteful and crisp piece that might have the eradog skiing, pissing or even in disguise.. It's safe to say the disguise did sweet f/a as the council workers were persistent in taking down the modern art whilst leaving up early stage scribbles and cursive fonts. I think we drew inspiration from the resilience that @eramelbourne showed when reanimating the trusted blue dog every time someone would cover them up! I think that level of persistence is what's needed for us all to push through another lockdown and come out full of life!
We hope everyone is finding ways to deal with these times, it's shit and we are all over it.. If for any reason it seems a little too much feel free to reach out, our DMs are always open!
